How Does Invisalign Work?
Fabricating a set of aligners begins with a digital scan of the patient’s mouth. This scan is sent to an off-site laboratory where technicians use a computer to design the aligners. Patients receive a new set of aligners every two weeks as their teeth gradually move into place. Unlike traditional braces, these clear aligner trays are completely removable. Patients can eat and drink whatever they want during treatment without working around metal brackets or wires. Patients also don’t have to worry about food getting stuck in their brackets or wires, leading to tooth decay. Brushing and flossing are also much more manageable with Invisalign in place than with traditional braces. Each set of aligners is worn for two weeks before switching to the next set in the series.
